You Could Still Get a $1,400 Stimulus Check from the IRS — Here's Exactly How to Find Out If You Qualify o

If you missed out on receiving your third stimulus payment during the pandemic, you might still be eligible to receive up to $1,400 directly from the IRS — but you must act before the final deadline: October 15, 2025.

This money comes from the Recovery Rebate Credit, part of the federal government’s COVID-19 relief efforts. And surprisingly, millions of Americans still haven’t claimed it.

What’s Happening?

The IRS recently confirmed that eligible individuals who didn’t receive their full third Economic Impact Payment can still claim it by filing or amending their 2021 tax return.

And here's the best part: You may not have to do anything.

The IRS is working behind the scenes to identify eligible taxpayers and automatically send out payments — no complicated paperwork needed for most people.

But you still need to make sure you’re in the system by having a 2021 return on file.

Are You Eligible?
  • You earned less than $75,000 in 2021 as a single filer

  • You and your spouse earned less than $150,000 as joint filers

  • You were claimed as a dependent of any age in 2021

  • You didn’t already receive the full third stimulus payment

  • You haven’t yet claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 tax return

“We found over 1 million people didn’t claim the credit when they were eligible,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.

How Much Could You Get?
  • Up to $1,400 for individuals

  • Up to $2,800 for couples filing jointly

  • An additional $1,400 for each dependent, regardless of age

Estimated $2.4 billion still available to claim

Example: A family of four could be entitled to $5,600 — even if they’ve already received partial stimulus payments.

The Deadline Is Final — October 15, 2025

If you haven’t filed your 2021 tax return, or you’re unsure whether you claimed the credit, you must act now. The IRS will not issue these payments after the deadline.

What You Should Do Today
  • Check your 2021 tax return to see if you claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit.

  • If you haven’t filed, submit your 2021 return before October 15, 2025.

  • Visit IRS.gov to use the Recovery Rebate Credit tool and verify your eligibility.

Don’t Miss Out

This is real money — not a loan, not taxable, and it doesn’t affect other benefits like SNAP or housing assistance.

Take five minutes today to check if you’re owed up to $1,400. You earned it. Don’t let it go unclaimed.
